Apple has refreshed its MacBook Air series. The Haswell processors of the 11-inch and 13-inch models will now come with revamped speed. Both the MacBook Air models will now come with a 1.4GHz Core i5 processor which is an upgrade over the 1.3GHz Core i5 processor in the existing models.
Rest of the configuration has been retained by Apple. Both the models come with 4GB RAM. It would have been great to see it bumped up to 8GB RAM. You will need to pay more if you need more RAM.
Both MacBook Air series models are available in two variants; 128GB and 256GB. One update that Apple users would have loved to have in Air series was Thunderbolt 2 connectivity port. The port is still available only in the MacBook Pro and Mac Pro desktop.
Besides the configuration update, Apple has also reduced the price of both the MacBook Air models by $100. Thanks to the price change, you can now lay your hands on the 11-inch model for $899 while the 13-inch model can be bought for $999.
As of now, this change in price and configuration is not reflected on the Apple’s official site for India. The price for the MacBook Air series still remains the same; Rs 67,900 (128GB) and Rs 81,999 (256GB) for 11-inch model. The 13-inch model is available for Rs 74,900 (128GB) and Rs 88,900 (256GB). The processor also remains the same; 1.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor.
E-commerce site Flipkart is offering the same models, as seen on Apple’s India site, at an even lesser price tag. The site is selling the 128GB and 256GB variants of 11-inch model for Rs 57,700 and Rs 71,599 respectively. The 128GB and 256GB variant of 13-inch model are available at Rs 65,000 and Rs 76,800 respectively.
