Apple iPhone 8, LG G6, Samsung Galaxy S8 to all have IP68 water resistance rating

The next generation of flagships from major smartphone manufacturers will all have the maximum possible water resistance rating for smartphones, according to a report in a Korean news site, The Investor. The IP68 rating allows a smartphone to be submerged in 1.5 metres of water for half an hour. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and the discontinued Samsung Galaxy Note 7 both had the highest possible rating of IP68.
Leaked Samsung Galaxy S8 renders show a smartphone with no physical buttons or a fingerprint scanner in the front. There is apparently a variant that ditches the bezel. A plus version of the device, is rumored to include a stylus. Samsung is expected to have IP68 water resistance ratings on its more popular lower end models.
LG debuted a mid range smartphone with a water resistance rating of IP68 at CES 2017. The modular design of the LG G5 is apparently being ditched in the next generation LG G6. The LG G6 is also expected to have a water resistance rating of IP68, which means a removable battery will not be possible on the model. The LG G6 is made based on feedback from users, and it looks like LG is building an ideal smartphone.
The Apple iPhone will be rated at IP68, as a part of major upgrades for the tenth anniversary version of the phone. The current generation of iPhone smartphones have a water resistance of IP67. The rating means the phone can stay under 1 metre of water for a period of half an hour. There are rumours that the iPhone 8 will be without a bezel, a flexible OLED display, and wireless charging. The new phones are expected to land in September, ahead of the holiday season.
