HTC has dropped a surprise on those waiting to buy the One M8. The new flagship has been listed for sale ahead of schedule and is on Flipkart for a discounted Rs 48,120.

The MRP of the device, according to the listing, is Rs 59,900. At the time of the HTC One M8 India launch, the company had announced that the phone will go on sale from the first week of May.

The One M8 comes to the market at a time when the Galaxy S5 is seeing healthy sales around the world. The One M8 is nearly identical to the S5 in terms of the core specs, but the major difference is the metal body of the M8. This time around, HTC claims over 90 percent of the phone is built using aluminium and other metal materials.

The One M8 gets a 5-inch full HD Super LCD 3 display that’s just as good as last year’s One. HTC has retained the front-facing BoomSound speakers, so you get a rich audio experience, but at the cost of handling, as the device is quite a bit taller than the One released last year. Internally, the One M8 gets Snapdragon 801, the top-of-the-line SoC from Qualcomm, with the quad-core CPU clocked at 2.5 GHz. It also gets 2GB of RAM.

Software-wise, the One M8 runs Android 4.4 KitKat, with Sense 6 UI and gets some nifty gesture-based controls. HTC has also added a battery saver mode, which preserves battery for several hours when it’s at the lower end. One area that might disappoint potential buyers is the camera. Even though the One M8 gets a new Duo Camera setup, it’s still the same lackluster UltraPixel camera. The secondary camera records depth information to allow users to manipulate focus areas in a picture after it’s taken.
