Nexus 6 has finally made an appearance on the Google Play Store and the pricing of the smartphone has been revealed as well. So what will this six-inch premium phablet from Google cost you? Well it will set you back Rs 44,000 just for the 32 GB version. The 64 GB version will cost a whopping Rs 49,000.
So yeah, the mid-range pricing of Nexus 5 and Nexus 4 is over, Google’s new Nexus smartphone is officially within the premium range of devices and is to set to compete with the Note 4, iPhones and Sony Z3’s of the world.
As far as the release date is concerned, the Play Store page does not mention this , though reports have said that the device would only be available in India by December. Given that the company has already made the page live along with the price though, we’re hoping that the release will actually take place much sooner.
Unlike previous versions, this Nexus device has been manufactured by Motorola, which was previously a Google company and is now owned by Lenovo.
The fact that this phone is made by Motorola may also explain why the pricing is much higher. Remember, Motorola is also building pure-Android phones like the Moto E, Moto G and Moto X and these are pretty much covering, the low and mid budget ranges.
In such a case it’s not surprising that the Nexus 6 would be priced much higher, at a range of Rs 40,000 to ensure that Google has pure Android phones available at all price points.
As far as specs are concerned, the Nexus 6 features a 5.9-inch Quad HD display (2560×1440 pixels which comes to 493 ppi). In addition, it comes with two front-facing speakers for a fuller stereo sound and a 13Mp camera with built-in optical image stabilisation and a 2MP front camera.
The Nexus 6 runs on a 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 with Adreno 420 GPU, backed by 3GB of Ram. The phone is fuelled by a 3220 mAh battery, which Google claims provides up to 24 hours of battery life. The phone will be available in 32GB and 64GB storage versions. The all new Nexus 6 sports a curved design (like the new Moto X) and slim bezels and its dimensions are 159.2 x 82.3 x 10mm.
Nexus 6 runs the latest Android 5.0 OS named Lollipop. Some of the features include the new notifications, Material Design, Android Runtime (ART), better battery performance and more. Read more about Android Lollipop here.
